Amazon’s Alexa for Shopping: Your AI Personal Assistant

Amazon has launched “Alexa for Shopping,” a new AI-powered shopping assistant that combines the capabilities of Alexa+ and the former Rufus shopping chatbot into one integrated experience. The assistant is now built directly into the Amazon app, website search bar, and Echo Show devices.

Alexa for Shopping is designed to act more like a personalized shopping agent rather than a simple search tool. Users can:

  • Ask conversational shopping questions directly in Amazon’s search bar
  • Compare products side-by-side
  • View AI-generated shopping guides and summaries
  • Track prices and receive alerts
  • Automate repeat purchases and cart actions
  • Shop across Amazon and even other retailers on the web

The system also uses a customer’s shopping history, preferences, and previous Alexa conversations to provide more personalized recommendations across devices. Amazon says the experience is meant to follow users seamlessly between phones, computers, and Echo devices without restarting searches or conversations.
