Gotham FC is reportedly in advanced discussions to play matches at Etihad Park, the new stadium being built for New York City FC in Queens.
The move would be a major shift for Gotham FC, which currently plays many home matches at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey. The new Queens stadium would place the club directly inside New York City and potentially closer to a larger fan base and transit access.
The proposed NYCFC stadium:
- Is being built in Willets Point, Queens
- Will seat about 25,000 fans
- Is expected to open in 2027
- Will become NYCFC’s first permanent soccer-specific stadium
For Gotham FC, the move could:
- Increase attendance and visibility
- Strengthen ties to the NYC market
- Create a more modern matchday experience
- Potentially boost sponsorship and media opportunities
It would also continue the broader growth of women’s professional soccer as teams increasingly seek larger, purpose-built venues rather than secondary/shared arrangements.
